Backyard Chickens

Finally, last weekend, we got around to moving the coop from the garage into the backyard. I've been so worried that a coyote or some other desert predator would hop our back fence and then break into the chicken coop, but so far we've been incident-free.

I do know two creatures, however, who refuse to leave the poor birds alone. I've spent so much time disciplining our two little rascals so they'll quit harassing the hens, and so far I've had only minimal success.

And while I'm on the topic of my dogs, don't you think it would be funny if we changed our dog, Joe's, name to G.O.B., after George Oscar Bluth? It's not like he'd know the difference. We are kicking ourselves that we didn't think of this before registering him at the vet and with the county.

My next project is to build a chicken fence so the birds can roam a little more freely, and also so they can live in peace without the dogs attacking them all the time. And we just ordered our garden bed, so our backyard should start producing food for us in no time!
